Taking only twenty or so shots per year, a portfolio of images is slow to emerge. The relevance or connection of these images to my central practice only becomes apparent years after the shot.

 
 

For Green Lung, a solo exhibition at the Essex University Gallery looking back over five years of grass paintings, I showed a selection of the photographs for the first time. They provided reference points from which to interpret and re-interpret the grass paintings.
